The USC Environmental Office is responsible for tribal and federal environmental regulation compliance, environmental/natural resources program and infrastructure development, and related responsibilities.
Is to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of Tribal members and to protect and conserve the natural resources of the earth for today’s and future generations.
Did you know that many homes built before 1978 have lead-based paint? Lead from paint, chips, and dust can be dangerous if not managed properly. The USC’s Lead Safety website provides information to homeowners and contractors about handling lead safely during projects. The Upper Sioux Community is one of four federally recognized tribes that have received TAS approval for the purpose of administering a lead abatement program. The Upper Sioux Community is happy to provide information for both homeowners and contractors required to identify and control lead paint hazards. The Upper Sioux Community's Office of the Environment and Housing Department can offer helpful advice on renovations in older housing, lead-based paint inspections and risk assessments, and where to go for help.
