THPO (Tribal Historic Preservation Office)

Tribal Historic Preservation Office are in place through the National Park Service and in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, Section 106. THPOs are responsible for administering the functions of a State Historic Preservation Officer on Tribal Lands. As well as being a representative and consulting on projects in our homelands beyond the reservation borders to preserve cultural, historical and sacred sites not under tribal control.
