Traditional Wacipi

Wacipi—or powwow—is a Native American cultural tradition, where the generations gather,  a celebration
of  life, pride, and honor. "Wacipi" meaning “they dance” in the Dakota Language. Today’s wacipi brings
together people from all over for three days of celebrating in a good way. It is a time for preserving  a rich
heritage, to dance, sing and celebrate, while reconnecting with old friends and making new friends.

This is an annual event held on the first weekend in August

Sunday - 1pm

Located approximately 5 miles south on Hwy 167 to 565th St, Granite Falls, MN 56241

Admission is Free

We invite you to be a part of this celebration with us here at the Upper Sioux Community for our annual Wacipi in Granite Falls, Minnesota, during the first weekend in August!

No drugs or alcohol, no weapons OR firearms, including conceal and carry, and no pets allowed. No bicycles and no violence of any kind on the premises.

*This year there will be no vendor fees collected. Applications will be considered for approval in order received.

**All Food Vendors must have a current Food Safety Handlers Certificate. To obtain the certificate, please visit; www.ihs.gov/foodhandler
